Job Description: 

As a member of the Research Advisory Network, you will have opportunities to connect with researchers and serve as an advisor on research projects at CAMH. Some activities might include (but are not limited to):

Providing recommendations on research topics
Informing specific study designs
Supporting knowledge translation strategies
Anyone with lived/living experience of mental health or substance use challenges or family members (including carers, caregivers, family of choice, etc.) who are interested in engaging in research are welcome to apply to join our network – no previous affiliation with CAMH is necessary.

Their voices help shape every stage of the research process — from design and implementation to evaluation and knowledge sharing.

By drawing on their lived experience, people with mental illness and substance use, and their family members, bring unique insights that help ensure research asks the right questions, measures meaningful outcomes, and leads to real-world impact. It is our hope that by building a strong culture of engagement at CAMH, people with lived experience. Families and care givers will help guide research that creates hope, promotes recovery, and supports the wellness of people living with mental health and substance use challenges.

Application Instructions:

Research engagement at CAMH involves the meaningful involvement of people with lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges and family members (carers, caregivers, family of choice, etc.) as active partners in research. Rather than participating as study subjects, these individuals contribute valuable input grounded in personal experience to help shape and inform research projects, making the work more relevant, impactful, and responsive to real-world needs.

At CAMH, opportunities to become involved in research engagement are facilitated through the Research Advisory Network. Members of the network are sent relevant engagement opportunities as they become available, as well as information about news, events, trainings and workshops.

In particular, we are looking for members who are able to:
Incorporate their own lived/living experience as well as a broader systems-level perspective to inform research
Work collaboratively with researchers and other team members with diverse perspectives
